Rockaway Athletic Club opened in 1982 as a small beer hall and a refuge for four guys who were kicked out of all the other places in town. Today, it is known nationally for The Rockaway Pimento Cheeseburger, Pimento Cheese Fries, and its main bar, The South Carolina Liquor Library, which hosts one of the largest selections of liquor in the southeast, as well as a robust selection of beer and wine.
Don’t look for a sign, Rockaway has never had one, but we are in plain sight, located at 2719 Rosewood Drive, in an industrial styled brick building with large black shutters
From its beginnings, Rockaway has supported the surrounding communities by creating The Rosewood Crawfish Festival and The Rosewood Art & Music Festival, two events which enrich community spirit, and promote the arts, and cultural identity. In recent years, these festivals were passed to The Greater Rosewood Merchant’s Association to oversee so that we could get back to making burgers and slinging beer.
